Like all films (whether they admit it or not) this film IS hoping for a release in theaters, and with Patrick Stewart's name on the credits, it's chances are a bit better now.

Ken,
Yes! That's so awesome! I would love to see more Dynamation! In film school, I'm making my own dynamtion short film! I would love to see the final film. Is it going to be released world wide in theaters or something? Boy, if Ray Harryhausen was able to make convinceing effects in his day, imagine if he had our technology!

5 million, you could make an awesome movie! How much did the Schneer/Harryhausen movies cost in the 70s? We know the original Star Wars was made for about $10 million, which is nothing by today's standard, even if you adjusted for inflation (oh, George, what happened you???)

There needs to be more of a middle ground, between films made for a hundred million and films made for a hundred thousand... How's about 5 million? I'll take that amount and make an AWESOME film with it. Then I'll take take 20 thousand of that and find a ton of ways to advertise it on the internet.

Because they KNOW they will make that money back in triplicate, no matter what they put out.
