CLaytoon was my first clay, It is great stuff for a beginner who just wants to mess around and have fun. It's also great for someone who needs a bulk of colorful non-hardening clay for some puppet or prototype. My personal experience with non hardening clay such as claytoon was one of sadness. I put all my clay creations in one bag and brought them to my grandmas house. But when I went inside I had forgotten to bring my bag in with me. I returned to a melted blob of clay inside a bag. Being pretty young i was very sensitive and was upset. But like a ray of light from the heavens I saw another way. I picked up the clay and began to mold it, forming one big blob of gray exilience. For years I had a big gray block to play and sulpt with. I came to love gray clay for its simplicity. All my old stop motions were simple gray blobs similar to Knox's Blue ones.

Now as I look at sculpting as more of a artistic profession, I buy clays like Super Sculpey. Recently I bought Super Sculpey FIRM. I've always wanted it and yes, it is gray. I love using it. I feels like im using my old Clay toon gray to make amazingly detailed and solid sculptures. Without Clay toon clay I would not be where I am today.

What has clay toon done for others in this group? Is it just a nice thing to have, or a obsession? Or do you have any funny stories like mine?

Not really that way for me. I found out that he used Claytoon after I had already gotten some. I found Claytoon when I was sick of using random material around the house to animate, and that was the first thing I found that came in a good amount and wasn't too expensive.

alex,
That's the same with me I learned about Claytoon either through Animate Clay or Knox I can't remember, and from Claytoon I got into molding and casting and to where I am today working with silicone and latex.

That's similar to how I started, though I don't really like the Knox guy anymore (he appeared to care more about self-popularity than actual stop motion).
