Sinbad Nearing Completion

OK don't yell at me because it's been sooooooo long since the last time I posted an update here! Sorry about that but, considering that I can't post any photos or talk about anything too specifically, I'm really restricted about what I can post publicly so, there ya go.

Anyway, what I can tell you is that I just finished up my second sequence for the film and there are two left to go. Those will go much faster than the others because the puppets are already made. (barring some modifications and finish work I need to do on a couple of them)

One of those sequences will involve two puppets and will be some demanding animation but, the Director has given me total control over the action in that scene so, I can basically shoot whatever I want them doing in the allotted time they need to fill in the film.

The only scene left after that involves only one puppet and it's a fairly short scene that I'm sure will be fairly easy for me.

According to what I hear from the Producer, the CG and compositing people are working as quickly as possible to get the whole film finished. So don't go thinking that just because you haven't heard from me that we've all been sitting on our thumbs here, quite the reverse - I've been shooting as much as I can as fast as I can.

Don't bother asking if I know when it will be done, that's up to fate but, it should be within a few months. :)

Ken,
Ironic, I was looking at this page the other day to see if I missed any updates. It's nice to hear the the film is still in progression! I can't wait to see it!

Thanks for the update Ron. The slow progress of a dynamation style film is, of course, very much in the historical tradition of a Harryhausen picture. Back when RH was making films, we were totally used to having to wait years for "the next one" to be released. So, all this waiting is really very familier and even pleasantly nostalgic

2 puppets, and you can do what you like, so that means not a lot of live actor interaction... sounds like... classic monster battle scene maybe? ;D
