'sur le toit' (06/2010)

Description

A first short animation in my set. Basically, it's a simple animation test with my raw armature, but finally, I tried to go farther to test all the process : cut, edit, post prod, mix etc. It explains the mix between raw and finished elements. Technically, it's an alternance of classical stopmotion, and of filmed shots. A lot of color correction, and of post production (the luminous sign, for example is supposed to be made in real) (june 2010)

Thanks guys !

@Jason Yop Jason, you're probably right, but I decided to stop this little movie in its actual state, because primeraly, it's only an exercice (well ok, that I pushed as far as possible:) ). I confess I was tempted to continue it, but it would have been a bit useless with the raw armature. In any case, it is a good experience that gives me confidence for the 'real' film.

@ JUAN The neon letters are made in after effects for the moment, with a plug-in called 3dstroke (editor is trapcode or redgiant), it create lines in the 3d environment of afx. By replicating them in Z, it gives the relief impression. Those letters are supposed to be made in real, for the moment, I started the A :)

what I would do different: In the beginning of this shot, I would include about 2.5 sec more of cloud cover... and have a shot from the character P.O.V. (inside) looking up at the roof of the character looking down - Not necessarily of a P.O.V as a different camera angle showing what the character in the attic doesn't see... this reminds me of when I was in Paris, France staying with a friend. The storm outside was horrible and I looked outside the window of our 6th floor apartment and saw 2 or 3 men wrestling with the roof of another building down below. The roof was being torn apart by the wind and they tried so hard to control it... i can see it in my mind Goz, work with your vision and achieve your goal.

It is so nicely done, but just a few adjustments will really bring this to life. Don't give up as it will truly capture your audience's hearts :)
