luc,
I ended up using some simple characters my friend made. First time she ever made anything in clay... but the characters were funny enough and I though rather then go over the top with the character design like I normally do.... better just start animating something so I can get my head around it. I learned a ton on just this tiny speck of an animation!

1) When you leave a shadow from a hand or leave a tool in your shot and don't notice it you will then regret it when you have to go back in and remove it frame by frame. It will take you three times as long as just shooting it properly and paying attention while you shoot.

2) A larger scale would have been easier to control and manipulate

3) The Plastilina that I used on this leaks oil into the paper leaving a stain

4) Sounds instantly make things funnier (sort of)

5) Sound can't cover up poorly planned animation

6) I need to shoot to a shot list so that I'm sure I have enough coverage and not just making up stuff as I go

7) Having an actual story is vital... otherwise it's just a gag or a story beat but not enough to really make a short film

whew... that's just off the top of my head... I'm sure there are tons more that I learned but there you have the stuff that hit me in the face. Good learning process this. Now on to the next one! :)
