Dog character.... fake fur or clay?
Dog character.... fake fur or clay?
I have an upcoming project for my job in which I am to create a series of mini-shorts about a dog. My question is should I make the dog out of fur (like the characters in The Fantastic Mr. Fox) or should I make it out of clay? I've never used a fur/hair substance before, but I think it will be a better look since it's an animal.
Your opinions? Any information is helpful. Thank you!

Re: Dog character.... fake fur or clay?
It all depends on your overall style. You also need to consider if taking on the challenge of fur is worth the opportunity cost during production. I actually like both for different reasons. If you're going for a realistic style, I recommend fur. If you're going for a more cartoony approach, I recommend clay. It also depends on the type of dog. If it has fine fur, I recommend clay. If it's fur needs to look messy, I recommend fur.
