Stop Motion Kits?

Stop Motion Kits?

I was looking at the rise of stop motion films out there and people asking about puppeout puppet and set building and it started me thinking if people would be interested in body kits to make a start on building characters aswell as a selecton of parts for both detailing and dressing sets and I was wonering if anyone would be interested in the idea?

I was thinking of a range of body types that could use a range of diffrent armatures in them. I was also thinking along the linse of both prebuilt cast parts for sett dressing as well as a range of greeblies to help you detail your sets/models and also a range of accessories

Re: Stop Motion Kits?

I like the idea, though, since there are so many different styles for characters and so many different things for sets, this probably wouldn't work out as well as one would hope. It would probably be better to create a good set of tutorials from armature building to dressing to prop building and painting. The reason for this is that when we make films, we want them to be original. After all, if you were making (example) Coraline, you wouldn't want to use the same armatures as those used in Wallace and Gromit, right? Nor would you want the same set pieces, but chances are, you would want to take ideas and alter them some. Say you have a good lamppost tutorial. You can use it, but still alter the final product so that you can call it your own (so it fits the style of your film: horror, suspense, comedy, etc.).
I would fully support creating tutorials for various, often overlooked, aspects of the trade.
