Christmas lights

The other day i was at a hobby stay in miranda looking for some stuff for my set and i found i small string of christmas lights. Im not sure if i could light them up, it had a little powerpoint with two little prongs and im not sure what you would do with it. Do you just put it with a battery?

Re: Christmas lights

I guess it wouldn't hurt to try - did they say what voltage the lights required?

Re: Christmas lights

How big are the lights? only because if it has the prongs for a wall socket but miniature, it may not actually be able to carry a current and the lights may not have fillament in them. Just asking :p.

Re: Christmas lights

Did the lights look something like this: http://www.craft-products.com/proddetai … amp;cat=44 ?

It sounds like you got part of a dollhouse lighting kit. If it has those tiny little round prongs like in the kit pictured, then it's made t plug into a transformer.  Here's another page on that same site showing transformers and the little power strips you plug the various lighting units into: http://www.craft-products.com/wiring.asp

Re: Christmas lights

I'm busy looking at little LED's or very tiny bulbs that I can use to light up psuedo-mechanical bits on a set and in a character or two. Not very up to speed on that sort off thing so wonder if anyone has any suggestions. Could it be as simple as soldering some wire to the little prongs out the back of an LED and connecting to a battery? Would be nice if I could dim them... which would mean some sort of circuitry along the line. Any amateur electricians or electrical engineers out there?
