Clay Melting Technique
I tried the clay melting technique where you melt scrap clay in a double boiler and pour it on your wire armature so that it sticks and the wire won't poke through the clay during animation. But I don't think I did it quite right. Is there a certain type of clay I need to use to melt? I used the Claytoon modeling clay. Are there any detailed instructions on how to do this technique properly?

Re: Clay Melting Technique
Hey Jack, what was the result with your clay? Did it pop through the wire, or is there anything else you can add as to why you think it's not quite right? It won't work properly if your wire is very stiff and stronger than the clay. There is a way around that problem where you build some thick bones with sculpey (that you've baked) first. It spreads the pressure on the arms/legs out so the clay doesn't squish as much. You need to round the sculpey into the jointed area so it can bend after you bake it. But that should help in a huge way if you still have problems after melting the clay to the wire.
