Liquid Latex Problems
Hello all,
I've been attempting to make some hands out of liquid latex and am in need of some advice.
I created the hand out of clay using the technique by Jon here
Everything seems to be working great but I'm getting a lot of little, annoying bubbles on my hands! I've tried popping them with a needle but they eventually work their way back up. I shook the latex up but the bubbles still prevailed. I even tried sucking them out with a syringe. I've been painting over the latex with Liquitex Acrylic Paint but then I get a brushstroke look that I don't really want. I've been using the Flesh Colored Liquid Latex from liquidlatex.com here
Do you think I should try a different brand? Is there perhaps a painting technique that would not leave as many brush marks? (I've tried spray paint, no dice)
Any tips, tricks or advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much for listening to my plea. Here are my hands so far.

Re: Liquid Latex Problems
is your latex brush or spray? Nick hilligoss adds a water and amonia mixture to his latex which stops the lumps.
on Nick's page i asked a couple questions on the subject

That could be your problem. Unless the bubbles were there before....? When I mix tints into my neutral coloured latex, I give it a good stir, then a shake, in order to get a uniform colour. This creates a few unwanted bubbles so I have to let it sit for a while. Tapping the side of the container helps to bring up bubbles from the bottom.
Looking at your photos again, I'm not sure this is the issue. I've never seen bubbles like that. I shall have a think.
Re: Liquid Latex Problems
I've been watching Nick's techniques on youtube here
and I'm wondering if I should mix some ammonia and water in with the latex. do you think that would get rid of the bubbles, or should I just get a whole new brand of latex completely. I might try brushing it on with foam like Nick did in the video. I just dip the whole hand in the latex jar.
