New camera?

Re: New camera?

I use Pinnacle Studio for my editing needs. I'm not sure if it has a web cam feature though. I use version 12, so later versions probably have it. Try version 14, I rememeber reading about how it had a special feature in it for stopmotion.

Re: New camera?

Adobe premiere works well and is really simple to use, if you're just looking to line up clips from your framegrabber and add a few layers of sound. It has pretty good control over the export settings too, which is a huuuuuuuge plus on Windows movie maker.

Re: New camera?

Buy the best camera that you can afford. A HD camcorder would be ideal. Its the best of both worlds as for as video and stills are concerned. Make sure it has a remote!

Re: New camera?

DLSRs have come so far in the last 2 years. Now shooting hd video, makes all my video cameras obsolete. I am watching for new tech that will combine the video camera with removalbe slr lenses. This way, I can use it for everything.

gcavasos: If you are willing to chuck out thousands of dollars, then you can already find a prosumer camcorder with detachable lenses.

Re: New camera?

I know, but as of now they are build on the slr body. Makes it awkward for video. Takes a lot of rigging to work. Sony is working on a new body stile and I am interested to see it. The video equipment I have now is hard to get good depth of field. I have a DOF adpter for the lenses but its a lot of set up.

Re: New camera?

I just recently got the Canon T2i. I think it's perfect not only for photos, but also for HD video (I think it's one of the only really good quality HD video SLR cameras out there right now). I can't wait to test it with stop motion.

Re: New camera?

Please let me know how well it does with stop motion. I heard the shot a full episode of House with the Canon 5d (I think). Canon has it going on and is well above the curve.

Logitech Quickcam 9000.
I have one and it's great. It has all the manual controls you need and the quality is great. It's also quick to set up with pretty much any framegrabber.
Don't think because it's a webcam that the quality is consequentially bad. This is not true in this case. Can't praise it enough.
As for youtube messing with the quality, that's an issue with your editing software rather than your camera. Make sure you're using a common codec.

Is there any chance you could tell me of any good free editing programs that wont mess up the quality, because thats the exact same camera i use.
