February 1 to February 29, 2012: Monthly Challenge Ad Compiliation!
Re: February 1 to February 29, 2012: Monthly Challenge Ad Compiliation!
Wow, I had no idea all this was getting done, until I heard a mention of it on tonight's Live Show.
If there are any left unclaimed, I could do 5 seconds. The list of which sections were claimed was posted a few pages back and several more have spoken up since then, so I don't know where it stands at the moment... I'll check through the thread.
What frame rate? 12 fps (like I think Dan said) and 24 fps are compatible, but if anyone is going with 15/30 fps that might stutter a bit when it's all converted and put together. Or the 12/24 fps shots would stutter when it's converted to 13 or 30.
If all slots are filled that's ok, and 3 cheers for all the volunteers!
Marc or Dean, could you post an up-to-date list again, of who's signed up for which bits? Or I will try to work it out here and if anyone sees their name missing or put down where it shouldn't be they can speak up -
Looks like it is all full - great participation!!
Here's how it looks back on page 4, with some names *** added who posted later:
1 - 4 seconds - Devicex62
4 - 8 seconds - Matt Chappell
8 - 12 seconds - Tommy
12 - 16 seconds - Dean
16 - 20 seconds "Just log into the homepage, and click on the monthly challenges link at the top" *** Tim
20 - 24 seconds - Jahnocli
24 - 28 seconds - Buckner
28 - 32 seconds "As part of the live show at 8pm central, on the last Wednesday of" *** Fred? Scottdaros?
32 - 36 seconds - Nederer
36 - 40 seconds - Matt Goodluck
40 - 44 seconds "But you can't be part of the fun unless you become a member, so head on over to" *** Kelvin
44 - 48 seconds - Father&SonStudios
Fred wants to do one, it looks like 28-32 sec is the only one unclaimed so I pencilled him in.
Also ScottDaros has something which can be used to fill any unclaimed gap. And Scott posted before Fred. Here I go, coming in late and stirring up trouble...
You know, if a character was watching a TV or monitor screen, you could have 2 participants for the same clip, one on-screen and the other reacting!

Haha, you scoundrel! I'm still working on it, okay!!!
I've updated the post with the segmented audio for a clearer view on who's doing what, just like Nick posted above. Here.
So is it fair to say Scott's piece will be used as back-up in case anyone fails to finish theirs? (Seeing as it's not being made specifically for this challenge...). I'm sure it'll be ridiculously awesome too.
Grand Master Hilligoss, it appears there are no slots left. I've never seen such a turn-out for a monthly challenge. We should do these short skits more often, they seem wildly popular.
I just want to say, I hope I don't seem to be coming across as too authoritative...? I'm not trying to take charge or anything. I just want to help the challenge along
Re: February 1 to February 29, 2012: Monthly Challenge Ad Compiliation!
Thanks Dean, you might be right! This collage and voice format does seem really popular. Maybe during the live show where we judge all the entries we can talk about how to do this type of thing again for future challenges.
Re: February 1 to February 29, 2012: Monthly Challenge Ad Compiliation!
I realized my puppet will have more on-screen time than anyone else's, because we will saw the top of the back of his head watching the tv of combined animation. Plus a couple seconds at the beginning. Mr. Nick is more than welcome to have my time slot in the middle!
Re: February 1 to February 29, 2012: Monthly Challenge Ad Compiliation!
Thanks for the generous offer Buckner! But you should keep the middle slot at 24 - 28. A back of the head shot while we're watching the screen doesn't really count, and a couple of seconds at the start isn't much either. I'll pay more attention next time so I don't come late to the party.
I think the great thing about this is that each animator only needs to do 4 seconds, but it adds up to something more substantial. When you do a 4 second test on it's own it doesn't really go anywhere. Doing one of these cooperative projects now and then, as a change from the usual competition, is a great way of letting more animators get involved.
Hey, good job organising it Dean!

Hmm, what background? Do you want some files of our logo maybe? Here it is in .PNG format, you can add anything you want behind it in a paint program. Let's see if this works:
