March to April 4th 2012 "weather"
Alright everyone, this is the topic Buckner chose two months ago as the challenge winner of January to February. Since we're not sure how we'll move forward yet with the future challenges we're going to stick to the normal way of doing things before. Simply pick an idea based around the term "weather" and post a link in this thread.
We'll discuss how we will move forward during the next live show after more people submit ideas in the other topic I created before this. It seems so far that mashing up different routines might be the most popular idea.
Re: March to April 4th 2012 "weather"
I have an Idea, it would be my first official stop-motion clay video... I have made some short few second things here and there for examples but not anything of this caliber! we will see if I can actually make time to do this... send your energies my way!
Re: March to April 4th 2012 "weather"
Nederer- can you start making stuff for it, until your voice recovers? (Or do a really rough character voice like Tom Waits on life support...)
Lwaters - sending those energies!
Anyone else thinking about doing this one?
I have a pre-order in for a fully folding, 1:6 scale black Umbrella, that was supposed to be available in March - thought it would be an ideal prop for"weather". But now the eBay listing says it won't be released until May, so I'll have to forget that idea. Or go with a paper umbrella like you get in a cocktail... I actually have a short, simple idea for a change.
I shouldn't even be thinking about doing this - still got sets to build for someone else, so I can't just use them for the challenge - but getting to fill in with 4 seconds on the ad for Feb was fun.
Re: March to April 4th 2012 "weather"
I'm a-thinkin' -- but those thoughts are often waylaid before something concrete appears...I'm thinking of illustratig part of a poem by Victor Hernández Cruz. It's about hurricanes, and it's funny in a grim sort of way (my favourite kind of humour). Working on a couple of character designs at the moment.
Re: March to April 4th 2012 "weather"
When I was in the army in North Carolina, a bunch of my fellow soldier went to play football in the hurricane... eventually the MPs made them stop... I am assuming with a hurricane stop motion you will have some stuff flying around. I want to have my caracter and some stuff flying around in mine... what is the best way to get things to fly in stop motion... wires? hidden stands? editing? the force? any tutorials or suggestions would be appreciated!
Re: March to April 4th 2012 "weather"
^^ Most people build a rig and then edit it out in post. A solid block of wood fitted to your table with wire built into it usually does the trick. There are also a lot of helpful topics on stopmotionanimation.com -- just search "flying rig."
This challenge looks like fun. I'd really like to do something with rain. Should be interesting
