Re: help with water animations

You definately want to take a close look at mamshmam's great destraction, and also a close look at water flows, and if it's a character make it with a bunch of lumps all over it and make the lumps move in a downward position, hope this helps smile

Re: help with water animations

For the water effects in my Moses movie most of the water is blue clay filmed up against a green screen.  I use color alterations to make it a deep blue in my software and I make it a little transparent to give off a clear effect.
You may want to film water and study the movement.  Some software (like Pinnacle Studio) have a function that allows a 2D image have a 3D wave or drop effect.  I use that as well.
That's really all I can tell you.

Re: help with water animations

Or, you could use 3D matchmoving software to film the scene, then import that into a 3D software, create polygons for where stop motion objects are, import the scene into RealFlow, create water, then composite that to your stop motion film!

Re: help with water animations

Stop motion water effects can be achieved with replacement models, thin clear plastic sheets cut into shapes and heat gunned to distort, cling wrap, salt, or shaving cream. I've used them all at some time or other, sometimes in combination!
