My first stop-motion!

Re: My first stop-motion!

It is, but with framegrabbers (which is what the software is basicaly called) pictures are taken in a much easier way. You don't have to trim the duration of each photo - the framegrabber does that (if you are shooting at 24 fps, then you take 24 pictures for one second...)

Re: My first stop-motion!

Hey Rikke,
Are you saying that you dragged photos into your IMovie project, then changed the times on them, and maybe cut out the Ken Burns effect?
I did that twice, when I needed to get the tming of something, and would never want to do that again. On my Imoive I can make the stills into 5 frames, still not great to make stop motion out of.

By all means get a stop motion program, I stop motion has a free demo.
I think that frame thief is still around, it has been abandoned however so there will never be any upgrades, but the price is right. as in free. I don't know how it works with digital still  cams.

Best of luck.

Re: My first stop-motion!

I'll second FrameThief as a great (free) little program. http://www.framethief.com/

It has a trial period where everything works and then, even after it expires, 95% of the options you'd need still work.

Otherwise, while you can't see your movie and it's impossible to edit with sound, I also recommend using the Quicktime player for simple edits. I also use Quicktime heavily for it's 'Open Image Sequence' option where you choose a folder full of numbered images, a frame rate, and it turns it into a movie for you.
