Inspiration thread!
I thought I'd start this thread so we can show some stuff that keeps us inspired, personally I love to look at behind the scenes stuff that really makes me want to be there for myself.
Here's Justin and Shel's garage, mid GLD; (one of two parts)

This one's been around the internet for a while, but it's still really cool;

And of course there's the behind the scenes stuff from the likes of Coraline and Peter and the wolf, they keep me refreshed on what I'm aiming for (albiet 5 to 10 years from now!) I love that making these films is so well documented and the information is so available. Of course I can bug Anthony with emails, but I'm holding back on that until I'm done my degree, or at least I get to the stage where I think I'm at a high enough level to get some proper critique.

2D also inspires me, I don't really have much of a desire to do 2D animation myself, but I really love to watch well developed and unique films, and unique styles come through. I also watch a lot of it and and keep an eye on the movement and actual animation of the characters, and think about how I could get a puppet to do that.
Here's an interesting picture;
That's Nick Park at Hayao Miyazaki's house!
It's crazy to me that these three guys that I look up to so much, and work in such different ways just so happen to be fans of each other's work!
Also: first non-test post of the forum! awesome!

Re: Inspiration thread!
That's some very inspiring stuff. I wonder what Misha is up to these days? I know his dream was to work on more features according to Don Carlson. He really puts a lot of emotion into his characters. I still think he shoulda kept his blogs up though that he had a few years ago. They were always interesting to read.
Re: Inspiration thread!
Ah that's nice.
I really need some inspiration after the exams.
I always enjoy behind the scenes stuff too, or sometimes watching movies with creator's comments could inspire me.
Well I hope this thread could inspire me some more, I have nothing to add though. (if I did I wouldn't have been here actually, if you know what I mean)
Re: Inspiration thread!
I get inspiration from all over the place.
I have to say most of mine comes from the comic book industry though. I've been a fan of comic books for almost 10 years now.
I just love the continuation of them, and how well the world fits with badass characters.
The stories are always deep and characters always very interesting. Guess if I was any good at drawing I'd be making comics instead of animations.
Japanese movies really get me inspired too. They are just different then Hollywood movies.
Main inspiration I get out of the stop motion world of things is from Bruce Bickford, and Patrick Boivin. Two completely different styles, but I love them both.
Like I said I get inspiration from all over the place. I could keep typing on about how I love Robert Rodriguez films, and so on, but for now I think I'll stop.
Re: Inspiration thread!
wow Penguin, I'm actually quite happy your not good at drawing... but that isn't very nice to say though.
I can't actually remember seeing a drawing by you....
But back on topic, I enjoy music, not the modern stuff though.
mostly some music made at the end of the past century is what I like.
But that doesn't inspire me.
It's the classical music that inpires me, I hear alot of people say they hate classical music but I can enjoy it.
It's just very different, and also alot of classical music is instrumental that leaves more room for my own interpretation.
Sorry I can't post any songs at the moment, I have a list with about 100 popular classical songs which I just shuffle through at times.
Re: Inspiration thread!
I have to agree with Sander about classical music. I don't necessarily listen to it casually though. I listen to it every now and then when I'm working on something and it gets me really focused. All other music distracts me from what I'm doing but classical music doesnt let me get distracted. So i guess it inspires me to work.
As for my inspiration for my animation... It just hits me. I'm not really thinking about anything, except I just keep in the back of my mind that I would like to do an animation soon and my idea just comes to me. Its usually as I'm trying to fall asleep though. Its when I think the best I guess. But I always right down my ideas so I don't forget them
Re: Inspiration thread!
I stumbled upon the making of the old claymation game, The Neverhood a couple of days back which was inspiring to watch.
