Hi igor,

I had this problem awhile back. Animateclay is correct that sometimes those frames can transfer to the render-be it deleted or what not. Or there could be another underlying issue. When animating, I noticed I would put my fingers back in the frame before my camera was done taking the picture. I would work way too fast! I hit the enter key and assume my camera was done doing its job then I would put my hands in the shot to fix the puppet for the next frame. Dragonframe shows that my hands don't appear in the shot but after rendering, I see it! To avoid this, wait until after you hear the shutter sound coming from your camera. If this was your issue, it might be too late to re-shoot the shots as it could take a lot of work.

A work around is to photoshop your frames or your rendered video. When I make these mistakes, I would mask out my finger that ended up in the shot or the clay sculpting tool I forgot to remove.

Best,
John

Can DoubleG pick the new topic? I believe he was second place.

Wow ken! This was absolutely delightful! Love the characterization and smoothness of the animation. This would be my pick for the winner so far! :)

I don't think I'll want to work with legos for a while. They're actually really difficult to animate. Best of luck Doubleg! The hand was nicely sculpted.

Hi,

I have a canon t3i with the stock lens. I don't know much about photography so bear with me. I need a lens that doesn't focus too much on one object but you get a pretty clear view of the background and objects closer to the lens. It would also be nice if I can put my camera a little bit further from my workspace so I have more room to manipulate clay figures. Ideally I want a nikorr lens with the adapter to my canon to avoid that flicker I sometimes get.

Best
John

johnken424 replied to the topic 'How do you store your puppets?' in the forum. 2 months ago

Ok, I did a huge cleaning of today. Removed my older puppets that were falling apart and decided to clean up my clay drawers. Put each clay in its own Ziplock bags in the drawers so colors don't mix and put in the mixed clay in a separate baggy. Then I decided I wanted to have my puppets displayed so I put them in Ziplock bags and just put them on the shelf. This hopefully will inspire me to create more claymation seeing them out.

As I make more clay puppets, I'm running out of space in my drawer. I don't want to disassemble them as I might want to use them for the future. What is the most efficient way of storing these puppets so they don't collect dust and to avoid them mashing together in drawers.

Thank you for the advice! I'll do the mineral oil and rubbing alcohol method. I already bought a ton of van akken clay and can't get myself to buy a new brand of clay. But i'll keep puppet putty in mind for the future as I run out! Thank you! :)

Hi John here,

I've been using Van Aken Clay for my stop motions but it is increasingly frustrating when the dye ends up on my fingers. The constant washing of it is frustrating because not everything comes off. This eventually leads me to transferring a blue color to my yellow clay. What kind of clay do you use to avoid this or what sort of cleaning agents do you use to prevent clay color transfer?
