A recent article came out with some very amazing news. In the age of AI, Guillermo del Toro hatched a plan to keep stop motion alive. In honor of the late Mark Gustafson, del Toro will build a school and studio with the backing of Netflix. The goal is to create the next generation of stop motion animators!

The issue today is that there are not many new stop motion animators. Ray Harryhausen, Will Vinton and Phil Tippett were household names in the 80's. Nick Park who is also well known has been at it for a very long time too, but where are the new stars?

He decided to tackle the problem by creating a new school dedicated to stop motion. It will be to inspire people to push puppets one frame at a time. He also is doing this with the financial collaboration of Netflix. No doubt they will benefit by the films that the students produce at the studio that is also going to be built. Yes, a school and studio as one! How brilliant is that?

The location of this school/studio will be in Paris. Why Paris? I don't really know, but I suspect that he chose it because of its rich art history. As of now, they are still in the beginning stages of the plan. But this could be a great new era for the art form!
