This behind the scenes video explains some of the process and thoughts involved behind making one of cinemas iconic characters. The Vermithrax dragon in Dragon Slayer. ILM with Dennis Muren and Phil Tippett were the two people in charge of bringing the dragon to life through (at the time) a new process invented called Go-Motion. It added blur to a puppet by moving little motors while a film shutter was opened to capture frames. It was ingenious tech back then. Today software can do the same thing, like built in tools in Davinci Resolve, or famously the Premiere add-on called Reel Smart Motion Blur.
