Paper Finz has quite a number of really well researched videos surrounding the beginnings of stop motion. In particular King Kong and the people behind it. There are some stories he dug up that you may not have heard about as information about the first film is nearly one hundred years old.
Can you believe that stop motion has been around that long? King Kong came out in 1933! In either case, the above video is extremely informative. My guess is that much of the information comes from a book called "the Making of King Kong" by Orville Goldner and George E. Turner. It is a great book for anyone who wants to delve into the life of the creators on the groundbreaking feature that inspired and entire industry.
